Twister Wreath
Posted Monday, May 30th, 2011 in Fabric Stash, Quilting, Sewing and Crafting, Twister Wreath, Wall Hanging | Read More
This small wall hanging was made from fabric from my stash. I saw a picture of a twister wreath and wanted to try it. (Thank you new2quilting.) It went together very quickly.
I used five inch squares: 9 background, 8 red, and 8 green squares.
The next step is to sew them into rows.
Add 3 inch borders, using the background fabric.
The next step is to cut it apart using the Lil’ Twister tool.
Place the squares into rows in the same order they were cut.
Sew the squares into rows and join the rows together.
The final step is to add a border. I cut two strips 1 1/2 inches wide the width of the fabric. The finished size of the quilt is 20 1/2 inches.

Twisting again…
Posted Friday, May 27th, 2011 in Quilting | Read More
I bought a layer cake from an online quilt shop when I won a $10 gift certificate in the fab shop hop last year. The layer cake is Basic Grey Origins by Moda. I couldn’t find coordinating fabric from that line of fabric to use for borders but I found the “Lovely” line works well with it.
I have small squares of each fabric left that will probably become a small twister quilt at a later time.
Thank you to my quilting friends for holding the quilt for the picture.

2011 Relay for Life Quilt
Posted Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 in jelly roll, Layer Cake, Piecemakers Quilt Group, Quilting | Read More
Every year Piecemakers quilt group makes a quilt to be raffled for Relay for Life under the leadership of Colleen. This year we each made two 12 inch “Sister’s Choice” blocks and Colleen put them together with sashing between the blocks and around the outside edge. She brought the completed quilt top to me Sunday afternoon to be quilted. I loaded it on my quilt frame on Monday and quilted it today. Colleen will add the binding and hand stitch it to the back of the quilt.
The quilt group will have a booth at the Buckeye Heritage Festival in Hicksville on May 20, 21, and 22 to display the quilt and sell tickets. We will also do demonstrations in the booth such as hand stitching binding on a quilt.
This is a picture of the Relay quilt with all the extra backing and batting still attached to the sides.
I will post another picture when the quilt is finished.

Sauder Quilt Show – 2011
Posted Sunday, May 1st, 2011 in baby quilt, Fabrics, Quilt Shows, Quilting | Read More
On Saturday, six of my friends and I went to the quilt show at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio. There were about 400 quilts on display and a few demonstrations.
The featured guest quilter was Nancy Prince of Orlando, Florida. Her quilts were wonderful thread painted landscapes.

We shopped at Threads of Tradition after viewing the quilts. I purchased fabric to make the “Dr. Seuss on the Loose” quilt shown in the June 2011 issue of Quilter’s World.
