OH-MI Shop Hop

On Friday, I took a vacation day and went on a bus trip with three friends. We left the parking lot at Sauder Villlage at 7:15 AM to travel to nine quilt shops, five in Michigan and four  in Ohio. It began to snow and became progressively worse as we traveled from shop to shop. We had no worries as Randy, our bus driver,  delivered us  to the door of each  shop.

We were served a sack lunch on the bus from the Barn restaurant. Lana, our bus mom, served snacks and bottled water and had games to entertain us as we traveled. Door prizes were given to the  winners of the games.

The  shop hop quilt was displayed in each shop with their own interpretation of the finishing border. Kits were available for purchase , when combined, to assemble the center of the quilt. Each shop also had a kit with their unique border.  Everyone had a “passport” that was stamped at the shops to be eligible for one of 9 – $100 gift baskets and a grand prize of a bistro set for your home. Our bus mom took care of getting our passports stamped and picking up our gifts from the shops which she gave us when we returned to the bus. We received one part of the shop hop quilt pattern from each shop and a laminated card with a pattern for a table runner or quilt.

It was a very enjoyable day as I purchased fat quarters to use in my monthly table runners, a cute cupcake pincushion pattern, two quilt patterns, packets of charm squares, and other useful quilting items.

When we arrived back at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio, it was snowing and blowing with very treacherous roads. Carol drove us slowly and safely back to Hicksville.  We all had a wonderful  day exploring new  quilt shops with good friends.
