Twisting again…

Posted Sunday, January 29th, 2012 in Twister quilt | Read More

Last year I bought the Itty Bitty Primitive twister pattern and template at the quilt show in Columbus, Ohio. I used it for the first time this month. I cut a Moda candy bar into 2 1/2 inch squares to make this miniature quilt top. The finished squares are only one inch with the top measuring ten inches.

I bought two charm packs at Fabrics and Friends Quilt Shop when three friends and I went on a Saturday morning road trip. The charm packs were Ruby and  Moda Solid in white. I made a heart shaped twister wall hanging with the charm packs.

This quilt top measures about 24 X 24 inches. I plan to quilt it with loopy meandering and hearts.

Three projects from one Layer Cake

Posted Monday, March 14th, 2011 in Layer Cake, Quilting | Read More

I made a large Twister quilt, Lil’ Twister quilt, and a mini quilt from one layer cake. When I finished cutting out  the Lil’ Twister quilt, I had small squares left between the blocks. When I squared them up, I had 1 3/4 inch squares. I sewed them together in the same order as the Twister quilts and added a plain green 3/4 inch border and then a 1 1/4 inch border of print fabric.

I have shown the first two quilts in previous posts. Here they are with the Mini Quilt.

Large Twister:  65″ square

Lil’ Twister: 25 1/2 ” square

Mini Quilt: 11 1/2″  square

Close up of Mini Quilt:

I have had fun using every bit of fabric from the Layer Cake.
